Jaguar has asked F1 star Romain Grosjean to be the first to try out their new Smart Cones tech, to be featured in the company’s ‘Art of Performance’ tour.

The global tour will start in Europe this month, involving more than 200 different locations where both existing and potential customers will get to drive Jaguar’s new range of cars in a series of fun and challenging activities.

One of these activities is demonstrated by Grosjean himself, using his excellent reflexes in order to identify the selected routes once the cones light up. At the end of the course, all drivers will get a score report that takes into account the car, weather and driving conditions.

Grosjean, who currently races for Haas F1 went on to say that “the lightweight, agile-handling XF behaves like a true sports car, so I could push my performance to the limit.”

“My tip for Smart Cones is to stay completely alert and engage your peripheral vision, as the randomness of the course is perhaps the biggest challenge. Trust me, it’s a lot harder than it looks, and I’d welcome you to try to beat my score of 49032.”

In the next 12 months, the ‘Art of Performance’ tour will go through more than 600 venues in 46 different countries, offering over 100,000 guests a true Jaguar driving experience. Aside from the cones, drivers will be challenged by several other dynamic track and road courses, in both dry as well as wet conditions.

The XF, XE, XJ, F-Type Coupe, F-Type Convertible and F-Pace SUV will all be available during the events.

On a side note, Grosjean mentions something very interesting regarding the new XF during his interview, confessing that: “it’s my car back home so I know the handling pretty well.” Naturally, this led us straight to his Instagram page and sure enough, there it is.
