The Vanquish Zagato is not only one of the most beautiful creations we’ve seen this year; it’s also one of the best sounding machines out there.
We live in an era where turbocharging everything has robbed us of one of the guiltiest pleasures known to petrolheads and cars like this special sports car are a stark reminder of what we’ll be missing out in the near future.
With Aston Martin moving on to a new era where their petrol models will be powered by a new twin-turbo V12 and their plans involve electric crossovers, you can’t help but feel a bit sad knowing that the fate of big naturally aspirated V8s and V12s is already decided.
For the record, the Vanquish Zagato is powered by an updated version of the 5.9-litre V12 engine, producing 592hp (600PS). Thanks to that angry beast of an engine, Aston reckons it accelerates from zero to 62mph (100 km/h) in under four seconds and reaches 201 mph (324 km/h) flat out.
It’s not easy to make an engine sing like this. It’s not easy to draw a body as beautiful as this. And when these two come together, it’s pure petrolhead nirvana.
