Volvo’s campaign for the new V90 will air for the first time on May 30th, featuring footballing megastar Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
This wouldn’t be the first time Volvo and Zlatan worked together, as they’ve previously collaborated on a marketing campaign back in 2014 about a footballer reciting the Swedish national anthem and hunting in remote Swedish forests.
“The campaign is a celebration of the independent mind, of the power that lies in the ability to think differently. There are many similarities between Zlatan’s and Volvo’s journeys. We haven’t got to where we are now by doing the same as everyone else,” explained Volvo senior VP Anders Gustafsson.
Coincidentally, both Volvo and Ibrahimovic are in the process of starting fresh. The automaker is in currently reshaping its image, while the football player recently left Paris Saint-Germain and is about to sign for Manchester United, allegedly.
Since its debut earlier this year, the V90 has been received positively by media around the world. According to Volvo, this model is meant to build on what a modern-day premium estate should be, namely an attractive, well-built and ultimately practical car.
