Audi may be riding a wave when it comes to global car sales in April, 2016, but things aren’t looking that bright when it comes to Volkswagen.
The German manufacturer sold 476,700 vehicles worldwide in the fourth month of this year, down 3.9 percent compared to the same period of 2015, when 496,000 units found new homes.
Across the European continent, Volkswagen delivered 150,300 units in April, down 0.9 percent, with Western Europe accounting for 131,400 deliveries. The manufacturer’s largest market on the Old Continent remains Germany, with 52,600 deliveries, while in Central and Eastern Europe, VW actually witnessed a 9.7 percent increase, from 17,200 to 18,900 deliveries.
In North America, a total of 50,700 Volkswagen Passenger Cars found new homes, up 4.0 percent from last year, while deliveries in the United States dropped by 9.7 percent, to 27,100 units. South America accounted for 31,900 sales, down 17.8 percent, while in Brazil, 21,400 examples were sold, down 23.9 percent.
In the Asia-Pacific region, Volkswagen’s sales dropped by 3.1 percent to 229,200 and in the automaker’s largest market worldwide, China, sales plunged by 2.0 percent, from 221,100 to 216,700.
From January to April 2016, Volkswagen delivered 1,936,200 passenger cars globally, down 2.0 percent over the same period of last year.
