With the 2016 UEFA European Championship in full swing, teams have begun showcasing their talents on the pitch, with several contenders having already displayed some excellent football.

But what about visuals? It’s easy to identify each team based on their home/away kits, but they rarely if ever reflect something about the country in particular, which is where these renderings courtesy of Carwow come in.

The list is full of “national products”, and they’re not only painted to look like they belong on the pitch, they also have one or two of their national team’s biggest stars running beside them.

Before we get started, these are the teams that didn’t make the cut: Portugal, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia, Ukraine, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Turkey, Iceland, Wales, Albania and the Republic of Ireland.

FRANCE – BUGATTI CHIRON

They’re the host nation so of course we were going to start off with them. Their automotive industry is one of the biggest and most versatile in the world, but if you could choose just one car manufactured in the Hexagon it would probably be the new 1,500 PS Bugatti Chiron.

The car is rendered next to goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and star midfielder Paul Pogba.

SPAIN – SEAT LEON CUPRA 290

You obviously have to go with a SEAT if you’re looking to buy something on four wheels manufactured in Spain. Sure, the GTA Spano would have been nice too but whoever thought up the list obviously wanted to go with something that most people are familiar with.

Next to the Cupra are Real Madrid center-back Sergio Ramos and FC Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta.

ENGLAND – JAGUAR F-TYPE SVR CABRIOLET

You can definitely do better than the F-Type SVR if you’re looking for a British car. Anything with a McLaren badge for example. But this 5.0-liter supercharged V8 Jag does pack enough of a punch to stay competitive against some (but not all) of the other cars on this list.

Sitting behind the wheel is Wayne Rooney (obviously) and next to the car (and we had to look this up) is Chelsea center-back Gary Cahill – hardly one of the stars of the team. Also, Rooney’s Jaguar is left-hand drive for some reason, but we’ll let that slide.

GERMANY – MERCEDES-AMG GT R

Yes, the GT R, not GT S is the car chosen here to represent the highly potent German national team. With its mean looks and 585 PS, it might not be the more powerful production car to come out of the country, but right now it is the hottest.

Running alongside are Man United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger and Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller.

ITALY – FERRARI LAFERRARI SPIDER

If you want to talk exotics, Italy is definitely the place to start as they produce some of the fastest and most beautiful cars on the road. In a way, the same can’t be said about their national team, which has mostly been a more tactical side throughout its history, but they certainly get the job done as a team.

Behind the wheel of the convertible hypercar is goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon and midfielder Daniele De Rossi.

SWEDEN – KOENIGSEGG ONE:1

If France gets to showcase the Chiron, the Swedes can definitely pull out a hypercar of their own in the mighty Koenigsegg One:1 – able to accelerate from 0 to 400 km/h (248 mph) in just 20 seconds. Next to the One:1 is Swedish footballing legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Sunderland winger Sebastian Larsson.

NORTHERN IRELAND – DELOREAN DMC-12

Surprised, aren’t you? The DMC-12 was assembled in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where the first car rolled off the production line in January of 1981. Back in the early 80’s their national football team was actually competitive, unlike in recent times. Of course, now they’re back in the mix and playing at the European Championship thanks to Premier League players such as Steven Davis and Kyle Lafferty, both pictured next to the DMC-12.

CZECH REPUBLIC – SKODA KODIAQ

Even though the Kodiaq has yet to be launched, it could turn out to be a more fascinating car than Skoda’s current flagship, the Superb. As for the players pictured next to the digitally enhanced SUV, they’re none other than Tomas Rosicky and Pavel Kaderabek.

ROMANIA – DACIA DUSTER

Just like the Kodiaq, the Romanian-built Duster SUV has also undergone a few digital modifications for the purpose of this article. It looks a lot more rugged and ready for any type of hard battle, which in a way also describes Romania’s national football team and their excellent defense.

Pictured alongside are Napoli center-back Vlad Chiriches and current Osmanlispor winger Gabriel Torje.

RUSSIA – LADA RIVA

The minds behind the images didn’t think they were being unfair when they picked the Lada Riva to represent Russia. Their argument was that it is one of the nation’s most iconic designs and they’re certainly right about that. This model however looks ready for the drag strip and should not be underestimated – same can be said about their national team.

As for the two players, they’re CSKA Moscow midfielder Roman Shirokov and veteran center-back Sergei Ignashevich, also of CSKA.
