The fastest version of the Ford Fiesta yet will arrive in the UK this summer asking for £22,745, a £5,000 premium over the regular ST model.

The new Fiesta ST200 will be available in limited numbers as Ford plans to produce less than 1,000 models in total.

The turbocharged 1.6-litre EcoBoost engine will produce for this occasion 197hp and 214lb ft (290Nm) of torque, with the company adding an overboost function that raises these figures to 212hp and 236lb ft (320Nm) of torque for up to 15 seconds. The car can hit 62mph (100km/h) from standstill in 6.9 seconds, while acceleration from 31-82mph takes 5.2 seconds in fourth gear and top speed is 143mph (230km/h).

But there is more: Ford has also shortened the final drive ratio, added a torque-vectoring system, a quicker steering rack, and bigger rear disc brakes among other. The suspension is upgraded with a modified rear torsion beam and new dampers with the chassis lowered by 15mm.

The go-even-faster Fiesta can be recognized by the 17in black alloys and a specific Storm Grey paint job. The interior features a set of Recaro buckets dressed with half-leather trim and contrast stitching.

This is going to be the last hurrah for the current generation of the Fiesta and a proper celebration of one of the most fun-to-drive compact models currently on the market.
