One of the most well preserved examples of the original Fiat 124 Spider turns up for auction and boy, does it look good.

This 1971 Fiat 124 Spider has 110k miles on the clock and was bought from its original owner by the seller in 2013.

He is actually a mechanic at the shop where the car had been serviced for many years, which is always encouraging given the fame that follows vintage Italian cars. The engine was rebuilt about 6,000 miles ago while the body received a bare-metal repaint in its original color this year.

The car comes with extensive maintenance records that date back to its purchase in 1971, including the purchase invoice and is sold with a clean Washington title. The exterior features the desired slim chrome bumpers instead of the fatter items wore by later cars, giving this example a more elegant look, worthy of its cool Mediterranean origin.

The seller, who personally stripped the car for its repaint, claims that is an absolutely rust-free example. The cabin is in great shape too, still retaining its original two-spoke steering wheel, and only some cracking present in the dash wood lacquer.

Overall it’s one of the cleanest and best-looking vintage Fiat 124 Spiders we’ve ever come across and if you feel like needing to scratch that classic Italian roadster itch, we suggest to head over to Bring A Trailer and place your bid.
