Think those 499 people who were invited to buy the LaFerrari got a special treatment? Well, they did, but someone got Maranello to build a one-off Speciale just for him, so he must have been a really important customer.
Cashing up more than 3 million dollars must have played its part, too, but Ferrari doesn’t do anyone any favors, especially when it comes to crafting a truly bespoke car like the 458MM Speciale.
The stock 458 Speciale was an excellent starting point, what with being the hardcore variant of the (already magnificent) 458 and, at the same time, the last naturally aspirated V8 to wear the Cavallino Rampante. Ferrari Styling Center designed a new bodywork in aluminum with composite carbon fiber bumpers, blacked-out A-pillars, sweptback C-pillars, enlarged side air inlets additional cooling of the engine bay and a rear spoiler for more downforce.
So far, there has been no word on any modifications on the V8. With 605 PS (597 HP) and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) of torque sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual clutch transmission resulting in a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint of just 3 seconds and a top speed 325 km/h (202 mph), it’s understandable if it were left all alone.
Anyhow, the 458 MM Speciale made its live debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and it wasn’t just for show sitting on a stand. On the contrary; it went out, did its donuts, revved its heart out and climbed the hill. Always nice to see a Ferrari doing its thing, isn’t it?
