After taking a Ferrari 488 GTB for a “joyride”, Pennzoil’s latest hoon involves a Jeep Wrangler, a patch of desert, and Rhys Millen.
The Baja edition of Pennzoil’s Joyride film series is a showcase of extreme performance, or at least that’s what the company says. Mainly because it used its own product – which apparently offers excellent performance in extreme conditions – on a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and floored it through the slopes, dunes, ramps and tilts of the Baja desert.
Yes, these videos were made to showcase Pennzoil’s synthetic engine oil, but it’s the off-road action that got us.
As you’d imagine, the environment tested the vehicle to its absolute limits, especially as Millen drove it like he stole it. But the 3.6-liter V6 Wrangler felt at home, despite ambient temperatures reaching 130 degrees Fahrenheit (54 degrees Celsius) – especially this particular unit, which was clearly hardened for the commercial.
But then again, bigger tires and a lifted suspension set-up are imperative mods for coping with conditions like these, more so as the action packed footage was real, as the 360-degree video demonstrates.
