15 years ago, Mercedes rolled out the fifth-generation SL-Class. Known internally as the R230, it was one of the most successful, lasting through a minor facelift in 2006 and a major one in 2008 to remain on the market through 2011.
That’s left a lot of the roadsters still on the road, so for those looking to give theirs a bit of an upgrade, Piecha Design has announced a series of enhancements.
The upgrades center around Piecha’s new Avalange RS body kit, including a new front air dam with integrated LED daytime running lights, side skirts, and rear apron with DTM-style rear diffuser. There’s a new Quadro exhaust, as well as a Power Converter chip to improve engine response, a one-touch roof-opening module, a lowered suspension, and an array of wheel options, including the MP1 Monoblocks in satin black or titanium finish, and the MP3 in graphite gray.
Piecha’s enhancements are available for both the initial model (with the round headlights) and the facelifted version (with the reshaped units). Over its ten years of production, Mercedes offered the R230 with engines ranging from a 3.0 liters to 6.0, with six, eight, or twelve cylinders, and producing anywhere from 228 horsepower to 661.
