From classic stripes to matte finishes, there’s no shortage of racing liveries that leave us a little weak in the knees… and in a good way. But if there’s one thing we love, it’s a racer decked out all in black. Shame we don’t usually get to see them in that state, but that’s what Skoda has in store for its upcoming home rally.
The Czech team will contest the 43rd Rally Bohemia this year in a Fabia R5 in a delicious throwback black livery. The customer rally car is finished in black with gold wheels and red highlights in a treatment reminiscent of the cult classic Czechoslovakian film Ferat Vampire.
The movie, released 35 years ago, follows a nurse who signs on to work as a rally driver, piloting a car fueled by human blood. It strikes us as a fitting tribute, considering that the car used in the film was a Skoda 110 Super Sport, albeit badged under the fictitious marque Ferat.
The car will be driven by Jan Kopecký, a Czech rally driver who has won the Czech Rally Championship three times and positively dominated European Rally Championship in 2013. He’ll be joined by fellow countryman Pavel Dresler as co-driver, but regardless of how they perform on the day, they can rest assured they’ll have the best-looking car on the stage.
