While we’ve gotten our first glimpse at the long-wheelbase version of the all-new 2017 VW Tiguan only a few weeks back, one of our readers just came forward with these new shots, the clearest we’ve come across so far.
This one was spotted somewhere in the US and, although we can’t know for sure, the car’s Arizona plates might be giving away the location, making this the first time it surfaces undisguised anywhere other than China.
Set to enter production in the first quartet of 2017 and go on sale in the US as either a 2017MY or a 2018MY, the LWB Tiguan will feature a wheelbase stretched by 110 mm / 4.3 in. over the regular model that rides on a 2,681mm / 105.6 in. wheelbase, and a longer rear overhang. This will allow for the fitment of a retractable third seat bench, probably most suitable to two children rather than adults, as is the norm in this class, and still maintain a sizeable boot.
Its engine range will also come from the SWB Tiguan(though after Dieselgate, one can’t be certain about the diesels in the States) and possibly a hybrid, too.
