Receiving a letter from Ford that says you’re not eligible to buy the new GT must be frustrating, but for the lucky 500 who have been accepted, Christmas came earlier this year.
One of them is Joel Zimmerman, or Deadmau5 as he is better known to fans, a Canadian DJ who already owns, or owned, a bunch of Ferraris, Lamborghinis and McLarens, but is now cleaning his garage and waiting for the Blue Oval to deliver his latest set of wheels.
“My inbox never smelled so good! It’s time!“, the 35-year old Tweeted, along with part of his acceptance letter to buy Michigan’s latest exotic machine: “Dear Joel, congratulations! You’ve been selected for the opportunity to purchase a new Ford GT!“
Out of 10,800 who have shown interest to purchase the supercar, 6,505 completed applications came in from different parts of the globe, as prospective buyers gave garage tours, revealed some of their other expensive vehicles and even sprinkled everything with a few life stories in order to make Ford put their names on the final list and eventually withdraw approximately $450,000 from their bank accounts, which is the GT’s rumored price in the US.
