One of the major events on the international GT3 calendar, the 24 Hours of Spa, will see no less than 11 R8 LMS racers put through their paces.
These will gather points after six, twelve and twenty four hours of competition for four teams: Belgian Audi Club Team WRT, Audi Sport Team Phoenix, Sainteloc Racing and Audi Sport Team WRT, all of which have been competing with Audis for years.
“For the many Audi fans in Belgium, the worldwide GT community, as well as our customer teams and the drivers, the 24 Hours of Spa is again the season’s pinnacle event this year“, said Head of Audi Sport customer racing, Chris Reinke.
On the sidelines of the event, the manufacturer will hand over the milestone 200th Audi R8 LMS to its rightful owner. The racer, which is from the second generation, left the assembly lines a few days ago and carries many upgrades over its predecessor, benefits from improved aerodynamics, added safety features and a tweaked 5.2-liter V10 engine, which was taken from the production car.
