Manual V12 Ferraris once owned by famous people equals big money when the hammer falls.
This silver 2000 Ferrari 550 Maranello was once owned by Sir Geoff Hurst, a former British international football (soccer) player and the only man to have scored a hat-trick in a World Cup final.
With just 36,600 miles on it from new, this front-engined V12 GT is in excellent condition per the sellers, having spent the last two years in “a correctly heated and dehumidified facility”. There is no need to say that right-hand drive 550 Maranellos are rare cars with this manual one finished in Argento Nurburgring with black leather Daytona style seats and full carbon interior trim.
“This is a very desirable Ferrari. Front engined V12 Ferrari Grand Tourers have always been the stuff of legend since the days of the original 365 GTB/4 Daytona back in the early 1970s”, said Nick Whale, Silverstone Auctions managing director. “With only 457 right-hand drive 550 Maranellos made, the car is highly collectible. Not only that it’s a superb drivers car, with a fantastic history, this example even more so for football aficionados.”
The car is going to be offered by Silverstone Auctions at the Silverstone Classic auction event on the 30th of July with a sale estimate of £120,000 to £150,000 ($160k-$200k in current exchange rates).
