What do F1 drivers pick as their daily ride? In the case of Max Verstappen, the answer is a 911 GT3 RS.

The young pilot reportedly picked up the top Porsche currently in production recently for nearly $400,000. The official price tag in the United States is $175,000, so that’s quite a big markup. Porsche made about 3,100 of them, and they were in hot demand, but paying more than double seems like a bit of a stretch.

This probably wasn’t an issue for Verstappen, though. Moving up from Scuderia Toro Rosso to Red Bull Racing has reportedly made him a millionaire and, thus, he could afford to indulge in a bit of overspending.

His manager and his father are keeping close tabs on Max’s expenditures to ensure the young man is not carried away, and they signed off on this particular one. Max is the son of Jos “The Boss” Verstappen, himself a former F1 driver – although not as successful as Max has already proven himself.

At 18 years old, the younger Verstappen has already won his first grand prix in Spain earlier this year and scored 139 career championship points in just two seasons. Jos competed for eight season, accruing a total of 17 points and two podiums, but never a checkered flag. He did, however, take a class win at Le Mans in 2008 with Aston Martin.

Max isn’t the first Red Bull driver to climb into a Porsche, either. His predecessor, Mark Webber, left F1 to drive for the German automaker at Le Mans and in the FIA World Endurance Championship.
