The Nissan Titan squad has expanded following the additional of the Single Cab models for both the Titan and Titan XD variations.
Just like the Crew Cab models, the Titan and Titan XD Single Cab can be differentiated on a number of fronts. For starters, the XD is available with a 5.0-liter turbocharged diesel V8 delivering 310 hp and 555 lb-ft of torque alongside a 5.6-liter petrol-powered V8 with 390 hp and 394 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the ‘regular’ Titan Single Cab is available exclusively with the 5.6-liter V8 and in the near future, will welcome a V6 into the range.
Due to the weight the models have lost over the larger Crew Cab models, they have slightly higher payloads and can two a little bit more than previously. The XD Single Cab with the diesel V8 is the daddy of towing, capable of shifting 12,640 pounds (5,733 kg) and 2,240 lbs (1,016 kg)in payload. Meanwhile, the petrol V8 XD has a higher payload at 2,910 lbs (1,319 kg) but suffers in towing capacity, falling to 11,590 lbs (5,257 kg). Figures for the petrol V8 entry-level Titan Single Cab sit at 1,930 lbs (875 kg) payload and 9,730 lbs (4,413 kg) in towing capacity.
In terms of transmissions, the diesel-powered models utilize a six-speed automatic transmission wile the V8 petrol variants feature a seven-speed automatic transmission. Both models are also available in either 4×4 or 4×2 drive configurations and in two different grade levels, S and SV.
Discussing the car, director of product planning for trucks, SUVs and commercial vehicles at Nissan North America, Rich Miller, said “Once we complete the roll-out of all Titan cab, bed, powertrain and grade level configurations, our all-new Titan family will cover about 85 percent of the total light pickup marketplace. More importantly, the Titan XD and Titan single cabs will have the power, torque, heavy duty chassis and durability demanded by today’s demanding worksites – including the highest towing capacities and payloads in the lineup.”
