Superleggera means superlight in Italian and the moniker used on the Gallardo nine years ago is bound to make a comeback, with an even meaner version of the Lamborghini Huracan.
The hardcore “baby” Lambo is currently undergoing testing, but word has it that it will undergo a diet and come out 100 kg or 220 pounds lighter over the standard one. This will be achieved by extensive use of carbon fiber and probably a stripped out interior.
Moreover, the all-wheel drive hardware could be dropped in favor of the rear-wheel drive setup, according to Car&Driver, which will allow it to save even more weight. The 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine will deliver an extra punch, probably in the neighborhood of 50 HP, and, as demonstrated by this footage, it will have its vocal cords rearranged.
Suspension tweaks, better brakes, larger wheels and aerodynamic revisions, that will include wider air intakes in the redesigned front bumper, a large diffuser and a massive rear wing, will set it apart furthermore on top of the Lamborghini Huracan, in its current form. Expect the Superleggera in two body styles, Coupe and Spyder, with the former to be unveiled at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, this fall.
