Want to put something truly unique in your garage? Check out this classic Benz. It’s a 1952 Mercedes 220 Cabriolet A, but even among the 1,278 that were made, this one stands out.

The classic convertible was transformed by the venerable artist Hiro Yamagata into an art car to rival anything BMW ever commissioned. Decorated with flowers and butterflies in every color of the rainbow, it formed part of Yamagata’s “Earthly Paradise” series, a tribute to the Beatnik era that kicked off in Los Angeles in 1995 and traveled between European museums through 1997.

Once back in the States, it found its way into the collection of Vincent Mandzak. Known as “Vinnie the Car Guy,” he was an icon of the Southern California car scene, selling Benzes in Beverly Hills and serving as a specialist for RM Sotheby’s.

It’s only fitting, then, that the same auction house is now offering it for sale. It will be offered, without reserve, at the auction house’s sale in Monterey, California, next month, during Pebble Beach week. But you can check it out here in this gallery of images captured by Karissa Hosek for RM Sotheby’s.
