Can’t get your hands on a G-Class with the “crazy colors” paint-job package? Don’t worry, because Mercedes has a far more affordable alternative.
Driving a G-Class isn’t cheap, especially the pumped-up G63 or G65 AMG variants. Add one of the five “Crazy Color Edition” colors into the mix to give the vehicle a splash of individuality and exclusiveness, and we’re talking about some serious money; the hue alone, depending on your chromatic preferences, retails between $17,000 and $22,500.
But what if you simply adore the G-Class AMG’s five eye-catching special body colors, but you’re not willing to spend the equivalent of a brand-new Volkswagen Golf only on the paint-job? Lucky for you, Mercedes-Benz Accessories GmbH offers diecast models of the G-Class “Crazy Color Edition”.
The best thing about these 1:18 scale models is that they use the same body paints (Solarbeam, Sunsetbeam, Aliengreen, Tomatored, and Galacticbeam) as the real vehicles, replicating their quality and characteristics.
For instance, Mercedes says the Sunsetbeam remains one of a beautiful sunset, while the Galacticbeam, depending on incidence of light, shows shades of blue. Just like the real “Crazy Color Edition”, attachments parts, such as mirrors, front and rear bumpers, wheel arch extensions, the ring of the spare wheel cover and the roof, are painted obsidian black.
Only 463 such diecast models will be made (matching the G-Class’ w463 internal code), and the inscription “1 of 463” will be indicated on the underbody of each one of these special edition models.
Made from resin, these exclusive miniatures were created in collaboration with model car specialists GT Spirit, Mercedes providing the original design data for the development of the models. As expected, the level of detail is high, as the models possess numerous options and consist of up to 100 parts.
Prices have yet to be announced, but it won’t probably break your bank account. As opposed to the real thing.
