If you think the BMW X4 has a face that only a mother could love, then you should see Dähler’s variant.

The Bavarian luxury crossover got a style improvement, becoming sleeker and easier on the eyes (and stomach) thanks to the Swiss tuner. Christoph Dähler’s motivation was to add that “certain something” in order to highlight the BMW X4’s unique character.

That’s why this particular variant integrates a subtle aerodynamic kit (composed of a front spoiler lip, a rear wing, and various other bits) that doesn’t stray too far from the X4’s original appearance. Even Dähler’s own 20/21-inch wheels aren’t that different from some of BMW’s designs.

The car’s interior was slightly altered as well, receiving an Alcantara center console and steering wheel, as well as a vent-integrated data gauge which shows various dynamic and engine parameters.

But the real treat lies under the hood, where Dähler upgraded the X4 M40i’s stock engine. With the same mill that powers the BMW M2, the M40i is no slouch, developing 360 PS (355 hp) and 465 Nm (343 lb-ft) of torque straight from the get-go.

The Swiss tuner’s alternative, however, raises the overall output to an eye-watering 430 PS (424 hp) and a restricted 590 ft-lb (800 Nm) of torque figure. Enough to push the car from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.5 seconds, all the way to a top speed of 270 km/h (168 mph). But if that’s too much for the average M40i owner, Dähler also offers two lesser tuning stages: 400 PS (395 hp)/ 773 Nm (570 ft-lb), and 420 PS (414 hp)/ 786 Nm (580 ft-lb). All variants adhere to the Euro-6-norm with emission values remaining unchanged.

To further emphasize the vehicle’s sportiness, a performance coil-over suspension system was added, as well as an 8-piston high-performance braking system with 400-millimeter disc brakes, and a stainless-steel exhaust system.
