While this is by no means an absolute rule with slight braking still being acceptable, squeezing the front brake like there’s no tomorrow can often get you in trouble on two wheels.
The guy behind the chin-mounted camera here is Michael, who panicked and “tapped the front brake”, which led to him losing control of his motorcycle. Aside from the fact that we don’t actually see any reason for panicking, he could have just used the rear brake or even engine braking in this particular instance.
Thankfully he didn’t appear to get injured too badly and even gave a thumbs up and a thanks to a fellow motorist who stopped and was willing to help.
Overall, the moral of the story is simple. Keep your wits when out on two wheels, because motorcycles are a lot less forgiving than automobiles and panicking can be the worst thing you can do. Oh and, its accidents such as this one that should serve as a reminder to those who don’t wear full protective body gear when riding their bikes.
