On August 27th, Bryce Menzies will attempt to set a new world record for an off-road truck jump, and this is how he’s readying his ride.
Menzies will launch his Pro 2 truck over an entire Old West ghost town in New Mexico, in his endeavor to beat the current off-road truck jump distance world record, which stands at 332 feet (101 meters) – a feat owned by Tanner Faust and his Hot-Wheels racing truck.
According to Red Bull, the entire project is Menzies’ own brainchild, as he always had a fascination for jumping over things (yes, really).
For the stunt to happen, the machine was thoroughly developed, and even analyzed in a wind tunnel. The suspension was tuned accordingly so that the jumping distance could be increased with every pass, as in early test runs the team was able to reach about 318 feet (97 meters). Reserved at first, Menzies is now targeting the 400-foot (120 meters) mark.
The event will be broadcasted live on Red Bull TV, so be sure to check it out if you want to see a racing truck fly.
