Preparing to steal the crown from the GLC 43 and become the most powerful model in the range, the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 is only months away from entering production.
The latest example to be scooped in the wild remains in prototype form, carrying light vinyl wraps on both ends, suggesting that the most important visual upgrades, on top of the regular versions, will be found there.
Rumor has it that it will mirror the interior pattern of its lesser sibling, the GLC 43, up to a point, adding new sport seats, steering wheel, a different instrument cluster, and AMG specific trims.
Apart from the design tweaks and large AMG rims, the compact SUV will also benefit from improved brakes, Air Body Control suspension and a retuned steering, to allow the chassis to cope with the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that will deliver up to 510 PS (503 HP) in the ‘S’ grade. Power will be sent to all four corners, probably through the 7-speed AMG Speedshift MCT sport transmission.
With its eyes set on the upcoming BMW X3 M, the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 is getting ready to be unveiled by the end of this year or in early 2017.
