Can the latest AMG coupe teach a few tricks to its Bavarian arch nemesis?
The transition from a four-door sedan to a two-door coupe did bring out a certain edge out of the Mercedes-AMG C63’s character.
Mercedes has tweaked bits and pieces here and there, including the steering wheel and the suspension, to make the coupe version even sharper to drive while the biturbo 4.0-litre V8 continues to impress with its seemingly endless power reserves.
With 503hp and 516lb ft (700Nm) of torque on tap, the C63 S Coupe can deal with the traditional 0-62mph (0-100km/h) in less than four seconds, with its top speed limited to 155mph (250km/h).
Figure-driven customers will obviously point out that this AMG offers more power than the equivalent M3 but as ever power isn’t everything. The new performance coupe should also prove its talent around corners, apart from its ability to annihilate tires once the stability system is switched off.
