We’ve seen the McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder go head to head at racetracks around the world and more often than not, the German comes out on top.

In most tests between the duo, the McLaren P1 has been fitted with the standard Pirelli Corsa road tires. In others, it’s been installed with the optional Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires, arguably the stickiest road-legal tires on sale today and making the P1 up to 2 seconds a lap faster than with the Corsas.

The Porsche 918 Spyder, on the other hand, is only available with one set of tires from the factory, the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2, incredibly quick in their own right but not as fast as the Trofeo Rs.

So in order to give us the fairest track comparison between the P1 and 918, supercar owner and YouTuber Alejandro Salomon threw the duo onto a racetrack and both fitted with Trofeo R tires.

To add something different to the mix, the potent Dodge Viper ACR was also included in the test. As Ferrari is apparently blacklisting LaFerrari owners if they participate in such tests, the hybrid hypercar trio couldn’t gather together for the test.

We won’t ruin the results for you but the video is definitely worth a watch.
