While there are plenty of models to choose from the mid-size premium SUV segment, if you’re trying to decide simply between these three models, perhaps this review might help you out.
The three models from BMW, Mercedes and Lexus included in the test by Mat Watson aren’t exactly evenly matched, since we’re looking at two rather different hybrids and a turbo-diesel for the GLE.
Price-wise, in the UK at least, the Lexus RX 450h is the cheapest to purchase at £47,000, however if you want a hybrid version of either the GLE or the X5, you’ll need to spend considerably more – especially with the Mercedes.
Of course, there’s a lot to be said about interior quality, comfort and technology, though what is particularly interesting is the fact that these three were subjected to a short drag race which, let’s just say, ended with a surprise…loser.
As for the overall winner, well, that might surprise some of you as well. Keep in mind, however, that three different people could have three different points of view regarding these SUVs, so just because Watson favored one of them overall, doesn’t mean you will too.
This review will still help put things into perspective for those of you who are curious as to how the GLE, X5 and the RX compare to each other.
