To this day, the fifth generation F01 BMW 7-Series remains one of the most capable luxury saloons ever built, and that has some owners unwilling to give up on one if damaged.
Such is the case with this particular 7er that made its way into a body repair shop and into the capable hands of a Russian mechanic who managed to put the car’s rear end back together and make it look brand new again – probably at a price that’s much lower than what you would have had to spend in a BMW service center.
As you can see at the beginning of the video, the rear end is in pretty bad shape, and as suggested by Bmwblog, we also assume the mechanic got the replacement rear from another damaged 7-Series (donor car) that still had that section intact.
The welding only commences once all the measurements are finalized and the mechanic makes sure that everything is aligned and that the rear doors close properly – otherwise, what’s the point of rebuilding a luxury car?
After welding the rear into places, he finally moves on to install the trunk lid and the taillights, before adding the bumper as well. Hopefully all the electrical bits still do what they’re supposed to do – like the open/close trunk button.
What do you think? Impressed because of his skills or even more weary about buying a used luxury saloon?
