Volkswagen has received regulatory approval from German authorities to fix an additional 460,000 of its diesel vehicles across Europe.

The latest engine in question, the 1.2-liter EA189 used by the Volkswagen Polo and Seat Ibiza, is one of three four-cylinder engines to be recalled by the automaker after its diesel emissions scandal broke almost 12 months ago. Its diesel V6 is also facing massive recalls.

According to Automotive News, Volkswagen has received the go-ahead to fix about 4.5 million diesel vehicles throughout Europe, leaving about 4 million left to receive recall approval.

In the United States where the scandal first broke however, VW is still awaiting the green light to begin repairing its local diesel four- and six-cylinder models.
