Who would have thought that Merc would ever launch a pickup truck, uh? Yet it’s on its way and based on the Nissan NP300 Navara at that.

Surprisingly, there’s been no backlash. Going front-wheel drive on the first A-Class, for example, didn’t go down so well at the time, but the public is now more comfortable with the notion of premium brands straying from tradition.

So, how about a more compact pickup truck, then? Envisioned by TheophilusChin in a double cab version, the Mercedes-Benz pickup truck puts the idea of a small, premium workhorse to the test by not interfering with the cabin space and adding an open bed.

Of course it would come with all-wheel drive and some segment-specific elements, including larger plastic body cladding and proper off-road tires.
