Here’s the latest sighting of the first crossover-flavored member of the all-new Mercedes-Benz E-Class family, the All Terrain, spotted testing on German soil.
Looking more production-ready than ever, the prototype sports an increased ground clearance and added body cladding compared to the regular E-Class Estate. It will come with standard 4Matic all-wheel drive, adjustable air suspension known as
Air Body Control, and a wide array of safety and technology features, borrowed from its regular four- and five-door siblings.
As expected, its main competitor will be the Audi A6 Allroad, but it won’t say no to other similar vehicles, such as Volvo’s V90 Cross Country that’s in the works as well. Power will come from the same array of petrol and diesel units that are found across the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class, which could also include a petrol-electric plug-in hybrid.
According to Daimler’s map of future products, the E-Class All Terrain will be introduced next year.
