An insane BMW Z4 installed with the 8.3-liter V10 engine of a Dodge Viper is currently up for sale on eBay in Germany.
Originally offered with both four-cylinder and six-cylinder engines, the Z4 has always been a rather intriguing sports car. Evidently though, the owner of this dark blue example wasn’t satisfied with the standard powertrain and instead fitted the largest capacity car engine in production. Thankfully the Z4’s huge engine compartment allows it to fit. Just.
As it stands, the Viper engine pumps out 550 PS (542 hp) and 750 Nm of torque, 90 per cent of which is available from just 1,500 rpm. When combined with the 1,398 kg (3,082 lbs) kerb weight, rest assured that the car is much faster than any Z4 created by BMW itself.
As always, a car with big power needs big brakes and this Z4 has them in the form of brakes straight from the Audi R8.
While from the outside the car looks relatively stock, the cabin has been totally stripped out and all non-essentials removed. As such, it features a custom three-spoke steering wheel, extended handbrake and gear shift levers, racing seats from Sparco as well as a complete roll cage, painted in bright yellow.
The cost for all this insanity? 49,500 euros ($55,600) or about the same as a brand new BMW M2.
