A host of the world’s largest and most advanced automakers are approaching three Austrian brothers who claim to be making electric powertrains better than those of Tesla.

Kreisel Electric GmbH, formed by Johann, Markus and Philipp, is already producing battery packs and electric motors, builds electric prototypes for numerous car makers and designs lithium-ion battery production lines for OEMs, reports Automotive News.

The trio claim that every day, they receive up to 20 inquiries from different companies, including BMW, McLaren and Volkswagen, looking for help in development their respective fleet of electric vehicles.

According to the brothers, their thermal-cooling techniques and patented laser-welding allows their lithium-ion cells to preserve full power better than the batteries currently used by Tesla.

“The whole industry is searching, and we actually have the solution. ompanies come out and offer us projects. We have no real competitors in terms of the way we do business,” says Markus Kreisel.

While the company currently operates out of a three-car garage, it recently broke ground on the country’s first lithium-ion battery assembly plant. It is hoped that battery production will start at the facility next year, allowing Kreisel to fulfil a contract it recently made with an undisclosed automaker that will “build 100,000 cars over the next two years”.

The 68,000 square foot factor will be large enough for Kreisel to sell 50 million cells in 2017, equating to around 6,000 battery packs.

Recently, Kreisel received an order of up to 2,000 electric powertrains and battery packs to the VDL Groep for a fleet of electric Mercedes-Benz Sprinters in the Netherlands.
