DS Virgin Racing has revealed the livery of its Season 3 Formula E race car before the championship kicks off on October 9 in Hong Kong.
To show off the refreshed design, the squad brought along drivers Sam Bird and Jose Maria Lopez in a night time video shoot and even under artificial light, the new car looks undeniably impressive.
Compared to the livery of the Season 2 entrant, the new car is bathed in a host of additional chrome panels as well as a more vibrant shade of purple. There’s then the obligatory selection of sponsorship stickers and logos throughout.
For the most part, the design of Season 3 Formula E cars are the same as those used in the first two championships. However, there is one key change. The front wing of all entrants has been entirely revised and now features two horizontal elements attaching the side nose cones to the center of the wing, giving the cars a similar front-end feel to the impending Roboracers.
After the Hong Kong round, the 2016-17 Formula E season will include an additional 13 races held throughout the world. Some cities already confirmed to host races are Berlin, Monte Carlo, Paris and New York City.
