For most Ford Focus RS owners, 345 horses is more than enough to suit their needs, but those who feel that their compact hot hatch would perform better with more nerve might be interested in Hennessey’s bundle of upgrades.
Known mostly for coming up with ridiculous amounts of horsepower for some of the higher-end vehicles made for the North American market and fitting them with aftermarket body kits, Hennessey Performance thinks it can cope just as well with more affordable products, such as the HPE400, aimed at the Blue Oval’s Focus RS.
Promising to have it ready over the next 30 days, the upgrade package takes the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine and transforms its 345 HP (350 PS) and 324 lb-ft (440 Nm) of torque into 400 HP (405 PS) and 425 lb-ft (576 Nm) respectively. The additional 55 HP (56 PS) and 101 pound-feet (137 Nm) of torque have been achieved by messing with the intercooler, turbo, air induction, exhaust and engine management.
We’re not sure exactly how fast the Ford Focus RS HPE400 is, but it will likely shave something off the stock model’s 4.7 seconds from rest to 62 mph (100 km/h).
Informing street racers that this isn’t the regular Focus RS will be a Hennessey exterior badge, HPE400 logos, a ‘Powered by Hennessey’ under hood badge and new wheels.
