There is no plot twist, the van loses, plain and simple.
Wikipedia describes accidents as an undesirable, incidental and unplanned event that could have been prevented had circumstances leading up to the accident been recognized, but how hard is to spot an airplane that’s about to take off?
This video captured the driver of service a van colliding with a Dragonair KA961 at the Hong Kong International Airport. By the looks of it, the man seems completely oblivious of the impending danger as he charged for the plane’s fuselage, but he immediately steered into its left engine at one point.
After the impact, the vehicle was dragged several meters on the tarmac, as South China Morning Post reports, leaving the driver trapped in the vehicles with head injuries.
“The driver who was trapped on board the light goods vehicle was rescued. He was injured in the head and shoulder and taken conscious to North Lantau Hospital for treatment”, said a police spokesperson.
It appears that the crew’s plane (which was carrying 300 passengers) weren’t at fault, and Dragonair said that arrangements were made for another aircraft to operate the flight after the passengers were disembarked.
An investigation will be carried to find out if the driver was under the influence of a substance, or had a medical issue. In any case, what just happened is…plain wrong.
