Aston Martin has revealed that over 450 people have put their hands up for the firm’s AM-RB 001 hypercar, even though production will be capped at a max of 150 cars.
During an interview with Motoring, Aston Martin director of global marketing communications, Simon Sproule, revealed that demand is outstripping supply by three to one.
“A couple of years ago we had the holy trinity of cars that all came out at the same time from Porsche, Ferrari and McLaren, and there were many collectors that had to have all three in their set. We now have the [AM-RB] 001 and I think a lot of those same collectors are saying they need one of our cars in their collection,” Sproule said.
The British marque has yet to announce exactly how many units of the AM-RB 001 will be developed and produced alongside Red Bull. However, it says that between 99 and 150 units will be built, including all prototypes and the track-only variant.
It’s been confirmed that most of the model’s power will come courtesy of a naturally-aspirated V12 engine. An electric motor may also be installed to lift power to upwards of 1,000 hp. In conjunction with a sub-1,000 kg (2,200 lb) kerb weight and advanced aerodynamics, Aston Martin says the AM-RB 001 will be as fast as a Formula 1 car around a racetrack.
