When the Great Depression raged into its worst year and Franklin Roosevelt took the reins of the country, Cadillac rolled out a fresh interpretation of their V-16 sedan.
The range-topping model continued to come with the same engine as in the two previous years, a 452-cubic inch V16 with 165 HP, mated to a 3-speed manual gearbox, but on the outside, it added a lengthened hood, rounder fenders, a lowered roofline, and more streamlined headlamp shells.
Carrying a starting price that was in the neighborhood of a new house and targeting the elite, the classic Caddy pictured here was ordered in February 1932 at Cadillac Auto in Boston, Massachusetts, and delivered one month later. For many years, the stunning model remained on the East Coast, and later on, it became part of a large collection of CCCA Full Classics in Northern Ohio.
Between 2007 and 2014, it underwent a complete restoration, during which it was returned to its original condition and even painted in the original color scheme – Viceroy Maroon Dark. The interior was redone as well, and with the work finally completed, it will now hit the auction block at RMSothebys Hersey event, on October 6. As for the estimated selling price, it remains unknown, but make sure you carry a big check with you if you’re interested. .
