With an 8″ touchscreen as well as a head-up instrument panel with a 12″ display, Peugeot’s new i-Cockpit design proves the scalability of TomTom components which can work seamlessly over both screens.
Set to debut at the 2016 Paris Auto Show, the first car to introduce the new i-Cockpit with TomTom sat-nav components will be the new Peugeot 3008, expected to go on sale towards the end of the year.
“TomTom is proud to be part of the compelling new Peugeot i-Cockpit,” said the company’s managing director Antoine Saucier. “This partnership is a further proof point that TomTom’s NavKit off-the-shelf, easy-to-integrate navigation engine enables car manufacturers to develop customized systems that meet the expectations of customers today and tomorrow.”
The collaboration between the two displays starts with the 8″ capacitive touchscreen being able to transfer navigation and direction indications directly onto the head-up screen with the help of the latest TomTom NavKit tech.
Both 3D buildings as well as landmarks (where available) can be magnified by the 12″ instrument panel found behind the steering wheel – which features the latest TomTom Traffic service and also happens to support voice recognition.
