With the help of tuning company ABT Sportsline, Volkswagen has introduced a limited-run variant of the Golf R exclusively for Switzerland, dubbed the Golf R360S.
Volkswagen tasked ABT with modifying the model’s 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and they have done just that, bumping power from the standard 300 PS (296 hp) hp up to 360 PS (355 hp) and 460 Nm of torque. That additional grunt means the Golf R360S accelerates to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.7 seconds, exactly the same as the Ford Focus RS. Additionally, the top speed has been bumped up from 250 km/h to 265 km/h.
Customers of the model can opt for either a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed dual-clutch, just like the standard Golf R. As always, power is sent through all four wheels.
Visually, the R360S can be differentiated from the regular model on a number of fronts. For starters, it comes standard with a special black livery featuring a strip across the hood, along the flanks and on the rear quarter. Unique black wheels also come fitted to all models as do bespoke R360S badges.
Only 220 examples of the model are bound for the production line, 165 copies of the five-door and 55 examples of the Variant.
Local pricing starts at CHF 55,200 ($56,968).
