A pickup truck based on a Jeep compact SUV might have been seen as an oddity not too long ago, but with the segment booming these days, it could start making (some) sense.
This rendering from Theophilus Chin fuses the new 2017 Jeep Compass that will replace the current Patriot and Compass models from next year, with the Fiat Toro pickup truck, creating this hybrid model.
“So it’s obvious the new Jeep Compass shares platform with Fiat Toro. They even share some common parts (windscreen and front windows). So will we be surprised if this Jeep version of the Toro pickup truck appears?“, the rendering artist asks.
Well, few would actually be surprised if the FCA-owned brand would give it a go, but since Jeep already has a pickup truck in development, based on the next generation Wrangler, it’s probably safe to say that the Compass will retain its current form, for now at least.
As for the Wrangler pickup truck, enthusiasts will have to wait two more years to get their hands on the first batch, as it is expected to hit the assembly lines at the Toledo plant in the second half of 2018.
