The 462 PS Mercedes-AMG GT and the 420 PS Porsche 911 Carrera 4S are, on paper, very closely matched in terms of performance.

There’s only a 30 kg (66 lb) difference between the two of them (in favor of the 911) and a 100 Nm (73 lb-ft) advantage for the Mercedes. They even have pretty much the same top speed, rated at 303 km/h (188.2 mph) for the C4S and 304 km/h (188.9 mph) for the AMG GT. As for the 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint times, they’re absolutely identical, both needing 4 seconds flat.

Without giving anything away, we will tell you that once both cars are up to speed, the fact that they’re equally matched is quite obvious as neither seems to gain or lose any ground to the other.

Yet, there is a winner here and we’ll let you try to guess which of these cars managed to get the upper hand off the line. Was it the superior torque figure of the Mercedes-AMG GT that made its presence felt the most, or perhaps the all-wheel drive system of the 911?
