It seems that getting behind the wheel of a 1,000 HP, £1m Aston Martin is exciting regardless of whether or not you’re traveling by land or by sea.
At least, that’s what Auto Express’ James Batchelor suggests after driving the Aston Martin AM37 powerboat around Monaco harbor.
Before we get to the actual performance of this thing, it’s impossible not to admire the craftsmanship that went into the design. Outside you’ve got a sculpted glass wraparound windscreen, sliding deck tech and a deep V-shaped hull, whereas the cabin boasts polished metal steering wheel, throttle handles and a joystick, as well as an advanced navigation and entertainment system.
Below deck, the AM37 features a toilet, air conditioning, a large bed, coffee machine and even a microwave oven. In other words, your £1 million investment isn’t going towards purchasing something that isn’t versatile and easy to live with.
While this powerboat comes with multiple engine configurations (also available with two 370 HP Mercury diesels or two 430 HP Mercury petrol units), the one tested by Batchelor is the top of the line ‘S’ version, which can hit speeds of up to 50 knots (57 mph) thanks to the twin 520 HP Mercury petrol engines.
If you lived somewhere like Monaco, would you rather spend £1 million on a luxury powerboat or a hypercar?
