Like its predecessor, the Huracan is being offered with a wide array of versions, so customers are spoiled for choice.

In the automotive business, the top-of-the-range variant is usually the best, but don’t be quick to rule out the cheapest, least powerful car in this case.

The Huracan LP580-2 may be the entry-level Lamborghini, but it’s still powered by the same 5.2-litre V10 and comes exclusively with rear-wheel-drive. Sure, it weighs less than its drop-top counterpart, for example, but it’s also down on power. With 572 hp and 533 Nm (393 lb-ft) of torque, the Huracan LP580-2 is 30 hp and 27 Nm (20 lb-ft) short than the Spyder, but is it enough to make a difference?

Auto Express journalist Steve Sutcliffe doesn’t necessarily think so, saying there are subtle differences between them. He deems the Spyder softer, more refined, and more comfortable, as opposed to the LP580-2 – which is being described as rabid, and manic.

The RWD Lambo is the driver’s choice, but this shouldn’t come as a surprise since it respects the same recipe as the LP550-2 Balboni and its front wheels are not corrupted by having to put down power as well as steering the car.

As to which is the fastest, there really isn’t much between them; for the record, then the LP610-4 Spyder has a (very) slight edge, though it’s hard to imagine anyone feeling short-changed with “just” 580 horsepower.
