The Renault e.dams team is raring to go for this weekend’s Hong Kong ePrix, the first race in season 3 of the Formula E Championship.
The French team will field its Z.E. 16 this season. The open-wheeled racer is underpinned by the SPARK-Renault SRT_01E chassis and utilizes a powertrain developed by Renault Sport Racing in France.
Compared to last year’s vehicle, the 2016-2017 car includes a selection of updates. Most significantly, regulation changes mean the amount of energy regeneration permitted has been increased by 50 per cent from 100 kW to 150 kW. Additionally, the new car includes the updated front wing that adorns the rest of the field. Other updates include new 18-inch Michelin tyres and a different steering wheel.
Having claimed the team’s championships in both 2014-2015 and 2015-16 as well as last year’s driver’s championship, the Renault e.dams team is the championships most successful with nine wins under its belt.
Discussing the upcoming season and the new tracks on the calendar, reigning champion Sebastien Buemi said “I’ve looked at Hong Kong and think it will be great. As a driver you always like to discover new tracks and new venues. New York will also be amazing, and I’m looking forward to racing there.”
