Chevy has toyed time and time again with the idea of a beefed-up Colorado. Maybe they decided it’s about time they actually put one into production.
That could be what we’re looking at here, and it’s been spotted by one of our readers testing in no less suitable a location than – you guessed it – Colorado.
Despite the Kardashian-sized bra covering the entire front end of the truck, it’s clear that this particular example has been beefed up. It seems to be wearing the same rolling stock as the stock version behind it, but it looks like it might be riding higher. And in any event, the wheel arches look like they’re flared out farther, and the sharper angle at which the corners of the front bumper taper in suggest a more hardcore off-road version.
Could Chevy be preparing to undercut the Ford F-150 Raptor with something smaller, but no less badass? Did it get a contract from the Pentagon to put the military-spec ZH2 into production? Or is it just testing some optional components? Who knows. We could be looking at a Canyon, for all we know. (That is a GMC Savana at the back of the motorcade, after all, not its Chevy Express twin.) One way or another, color us intrigued.
Thanks for the shots, Brett!
