Aston Martin’s iconic Vanquish has just received a host of modifications and upgrades resulting in what the Gaydon-based automakers calls the Vanquish S.

Expected to be one of the final models to use Aston’s naturally aspirated 5.9-liter V12 engine before AMG powertrains takeover the firm’s models, the Vanquish S promises to “deliver more intense thrills and even more scintillating performance”.

At the heart of the upgrades are a number of tweaks to the engine which now pumps out 600 PS (592 hp), up from the 568 hp offered by the ‘regular’ Vanquish. This additional power has been achieved in part thanks to larger inlet manifolds and the implementation of a revised air intake system which also improves throttle response. Elsewhere, the British carmaker has altered the calibration of the 8-speed Touchtronic III transmission to now deliver quicker downshifts and better refinement at low speeds.

The final mechanical modifications consist of a new exhaust system with quad tailpipes and re-tuned anti-roll bar bushes, springs rates, suspension and damper internals.

To complement the new performance upgrades, the Vanquish S adopts a bespoke aerodynamic package made from carbon fiber. Some of its most notable components include the revised front splitter and new rear diffuser, both said to reduce frontal lift to aid in stability.

Similarly, the interior has been altered and now includes a choice of distinctive quilted leather and what Aston dubs ‘Satin Chopped Carbon Fiber’ on the fascia panel. There’s also luxurious Bridge of Weir Caithness leather from a company in Scotland as well as special embroidery on the headrests.

“From the moment the original Vanquish was launched it became a modern icon. It propelled Aston Martin from an era of hand-built cars to one where craftsmanship and technology combined to create a new kind of great British GT,” said Aston Martin president and chief executive Andy Palmer.

“In its second generation the Vanquish maintained that momentum with huge engineering advances such as its all-carbon fibre bodywork and compelling, contemporary styling. Now, the Vanquish S takes things a step further, confidently asserting itself within the Aston Martin range and distinguishing itself from the new DB11. A spectacular machine in every sense, the Vanquish S is a magnificent addition to our range.”

The Vanquish S is available in both Coupe and Volante guises and will start from $294,950 in the U.S. with deliveries starting next month.
