We’ve been here before, haven’t we, with the all-new coupe that BMW is readying, and the convertible that’s just been scooped is making us none the wiser.
While most reports agree that the powers-that-be at Munich have decided to resurrect the vaunted 8-Series badge, there are dissident voices who insist that this is going to be the replacement to the 6-Series instead. The company execs are, understandably, keeping mum on the subject, so it’s anyone’s guess who is right.
Anyhow, the heavily disguised tester scooped here is following the svelte lines of the coupe closely, the only difference being the adoption of a soft top and a redesigned rear deck that this necessitates.
Info are scarce, but we expect the Convertible to launch after the Coupe within the next 18 months with the same range of engines that will include straight-six and V8 turbocharged units and, very likely, an M version with 600+ HP later on.
