With a sportier body and sleeker roofline, the new BMW X2 looks ready to take its rightful place alongside the company’s even-numbered X4 and X6 SAC models.
The X2 is technically the Coupe version of the current-generation X1, which means it will also come in both front-wheel drive as well as all-wheel drive, while mirroring the latter’s petrol and diesel engine lineup.
Since the X2 is being a lot less careful with its camouflage this time around, it allows for a much better look at the large kidney grille, upper bumper-mounted fog lamps, large air intakes, headlights and of course its aggressive taillights which we’re seeing for the very first time.
Now, the taillight graphics may not end up being identical to the ones we saw on the X2 Concept unveiled in Paris recently, but we could be looking at a similar overall design – though the jury is still out.
Inside, we’re expecting more or less the same layout from the X1, which means having a multi-layered design, also similar to the one found on the 2-Series Active Tourer. Tech features such as BMW’s ConnectedDrive system and head-up display should also be available, along with access to BMW apps and services.
The new BMW X2 is expected to go on sale sometime next year, when it will take on rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz GLA, Audi Q3 and even the Range Rover Evoque.
