The Ford F-150 is far and away the market leader. It outsells the Ram trucks, and the joint tally of Chevy Silverados and GMC Sierras. In fact, its sales results beats those of all the full-size trucks from the Japanese competitors combined.
But Ford didn’t get there by sitting on its proverbial laurels. It’s undertaken a campaign of constant improvement, and judging from these photos, ongoing testing as well.
The latest vehicles spotted undergoing high-altitude testing in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado are Dearborn’s hot-selling, aluminum-bodied trucks. The F-150 is pictured here in various states of undress: some in the production forms we’ve already seen, some with one manner or another of visible modifications, and one with rather heavy camouflage enveloping the entire front end.
Just what the Blue Oval automaker has in store for one of its most important models, we couldn’t tell you. Your guess is as good as ours, and you’re invited to share your thoughts in the comments section below. But what we can tell you with absolute certainty is that it won’t just sit there and watch without a fight as its competitors try and catch up.
Hat tip to Brett Borgard for sharing the shots!
